Ji Dan Mian Bao! where Bread and Egg pave the way for love. after years and years of wonderful procrastination, J2 are back again with their second joint blog, which is deemed to survive their laziness in updating and they won't let it die, even if they have to eat it up. The site name has been chosen with love, where they decided on a greatly missed snack only to be enjoyed in their younger schooling days. Long live you, Ji Dan Mian Bao!

on Thursday i went for dinner at:

well i think Subway is cool because of their 4-step easy guide to ordering.
Step 1: you select the kind of bread you want out of 4 kinds and the guy spreads the main ingredient on it.
Step 2: you choose what toppings you want like veggies, cheese (free) or bacon, ham(pay) etc.
Step 3: choose the sauce that you want, eg: mayo, sweet onion yada yada.
Step 4 (optional): you might want to add $2, $2.60 or $3.20 to get a meal. it comprises of a drink(of different sizes) and a cookie or two or some other snack.

and their cookie was good.

i ordered Parmesan Oregano(?) bread with tuna spread, cheese and mayo sauce. i did get a chocolate chip cookie for $2 and drinks that could be mixed like the 7-11 Big Gulp kind. it was quite good and yummy, but i think it was too expensive as my total meal cost $5.95. actually it's pretty reasonable but not for a budget person like me. plus i'm not a veggie person so i didn't get any veggie on it, making the money less worth it.
for people who love veggies like my friend who ordered all the different kinds, i guess it was worth it.

tip: if you're buying, you might want to add $3 so the bread becomes 12-inches long instead of the usual 6-inch bread. if you're going for the same filling, you can share with a friend to reduce cost. :)

and here's an introductory to one of the good waffle places, a guitar-break treat.

this is the picture of the nice uncle at Jia Le Bakery near Blk 85 Fengshan Food Centre in Bedok. the shop tenders are very nice people, who don't mind you paying less if you don't have enough money! for eg, i didn't have enough coins to pay for my $1.30 waffle, as i had only $1.10. i was prepared to take out my $2 note but the uncle kindly told me it was okay. and this happened before on many occassions, and the uncle and the auntie are always quick to tell you that it was okay if you didn't have enough to pay them the full amount.

because of that, i'll patronise them often and always give them the full amount now! :)

furthermore, their waffles are really yummy.

not the usual green-toned bakery waffle, this waffle is really crispy and has a very nice smell! the ends are especially crunchy and the waffle is good, although that day it tasted a tad bit undercooked to me.
the cheese waffle i ordered is one of the best too because they don't do it the cheapskate way by just placing a square piece of cheese. instead, they use the cheese brand with the red cow's face on it (the one in the triangle shape, made in France) and spread it out evenly across the waffle before serving.
which makes it taste extra good. the blueberry sauce is good too, very sweet and complements the taste of the waffle well.

well that night my parents came home with sth that surprised me pleasantly.

the donut factory! i opened it to find...

what else, but colourful donuts! and they look taste real yummy too! some flavours are a bit too sweet for my liking, but donuts are wonderful and they are good enough.
but somehow i still prefer conventional donuts, just bread with sugar.

sometimes life tastes the best when it's simplest. :)
